Call For Submissions
The Nigeria Review is committed to pensive, sustained engagement with books and the ideas they scintillate. As the only journal in Nigeria devoted solely to book criticism, we provide space for clear, serious, and intellectually alert conversations at the intersection of literature and culture. Our aim is simple; to nurture a community of readers and critics who take literature and the toil of thinking about it, seriously.
We welcome reviews and essays that move past surface impressions. We’re interested in writing that probes a book’s artistic and intellectual choices, situates it within broader literary or historical currents, and brings a fresh, confident voice to the page.
Before submitting your work, please read the guidelines carefully:

Our Editorial Process
We hold the view that good criticism sharpens both the reader and the work being examined. For that reason, our editorial process is attentive and collaborative; pieces with clear potential are guided through astute feedback designed to strengthen their clarity, depth, and critical focus.
We also encourage prospective contributors to spend time with previous editions of The Nigeria Review to get a sense of the level of inquiry we champion. To us, literary criticism is an active encounter with ideas, one that calls for context, discernment, and a steady command of the conversation a work belongs to.
